Input Towards the Development of Successful Funding Programs for Ontario Food and Beverage Processors Under the Next Agricultural Policy Framework

In March 2016, the Minister of Finance established the Advisory Council on Economic Growth, a group of 14 members comprised of Canadian and international business and academic leaders, to develop advice on concrete policy actions to help improve Canada’s economic growth trajectory. In the report The Path to Prosperity, published in February 2017, the Advisory Council identified agri-food as one of the most promising sectors and suggested removing obstacles and excessive regulations hindering economic growth. It was stated that “The sector has the potential for substantial growth and export improvement and the opportunity to become the trusted global leader in safe, nutritious and sustainable food for the 21st century.”
