Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) | Audit Blitz

Over the course of the next few months, the Government of Ontario is conducting an audit blitz of businesses in the manufacturing sector to determine compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Organizations selected for an audit during this initiative will be asked to provide documents that demonstrate they are meeting the requirements listed under the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) to:

  • Put in place individualized emergency response plans for their employees with disabilities.
  • Notify their employees and the public about the availability of accommodation for applicants with disabilities during the recruitment process.
  • Inform their employees of policies available to support employees with disabilities.

To learn how organizations can meet these requirements, please visit https://www.ontario.ca/page/accessible-workplaces.

Also, all organizations in Ontario with 20 or more employees (including those in the manufacturing sector) must file an accessibility compliance report by December 31, 2017. Filing a compliance report is easy, and it’s the law.
