You’re invited to join Export Development Canada on March 5th for an in-person roundtable discussion with EDC’s Global Director of Agri-food, Ashley Kanary and Vice-President of Indo-Pacific, George Monize at our Export Growth Hub in Kitchener-Waterloo.

As Canada’s second largest export market block, and the fastest growing region in the world, huge potential exists for Canadian agri-food exporters in the Indo-Pacific. These opportunities, however, come with unique challenges.

What can you expect from our session:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities that exist in the agri-food sector during a Q&A with Luciano Volpe, President of SLV Management Ltd. & Ashley Kanary of EDC

Speakers

George Monize has over two decades of experience in executive leadership, strategic business development and key relationship management.

As Vice-President, Indo-Pacific, his mandate is at the core of EDC’s long-term vision – building EDC’s and Canada’s trade business in the Indo-Pacific region. From expanding EDC’s physical presence in the region to building EDC’s only independent branch outside of Canada, his responsibilities include creating new export and investment opportunities for Canadian companies. All while championing EDC’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) vision and plan.

Ashley Kanary is the Director of Global Agri-Food based in Toronto with Export Development Canada, he has a significant Agri-Food background spanning over 30 years holding previous executive leadership roles at Lassonde as Vice President National Accounts and General Manager (One of Canada’s largest Juice companies – Oasis, Sunrype brands) and at BCI Foods as Executive Vice President – Sales and Marketing (a canned soup business – Primo and Aylmer brands + Military food producer).

He holds a Specialization in Strategy certificate from Harvard Business School with a focus on Global Business, Strategy Execution and Sustainable Business.

Luciano Volpe is the Founder and Managing Partner of SLV International, a Toronto-based company, producing, marketing and distributing Canadian food and non-food brand lines to into international markets (including its own brand can-Natur) to South East Asia, Mexico, South America and the EU. He is a graduate of the Schulich School of Business in Toronto with an International MBA, having studied and worked in Milan, Italy during his Master’s work. Early in his career, Luciano worked in Management Consulting for an international boutique British firm, a retail Consultancy in Toronto and a Marketing Agency in Toronto before moving out on his own in 2007. Luciano also acts as a part-time Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the BComm program at Rotman Commerce, University of Toronto, with a focus on International Business and Marketing.
