Calling on Ontario food and beverage processor employers

Food and Beverage Ontario’s Taste Your Future program and FoodGrads connected to students and recent grads in search of career opportunities

Guelph (July 3, 2018) – Food and Beverage Ontario (FBO) is calling on processor employers with entry level positions, summer student contracts and career opportunities for students and new graduates. With many university, college and secondary school terms completed, students and recent grads are actively searching for job opportunities. FBO’s Taste Your Future program and FoodGrads are working hard at making these connections.

“Last year when FBO consulted with Ontario processors we were told that attracting young talent and people with the right skills was crucial to business development,” said Norm Beal, CEO of Food and Beverage Ontario. “Thanks to our Taste Your Future career awareness program and recent partnership with FoodGrads we are now directly connected to students and recent grads eager to start a career or explore employment opportunities with a summer student position.”

The Taste Your Future program was launched in 2016 to raise awareness of the diverse and rewarding careers in the food and beverage processing industry for young people, new Canadians and second career individuals. The program is coordinated by Food and Beverage Ontario and guided by a team of leaders from industry, HR, academia and non-profit industry, youth and newcomer groups.

FoodGrads offers a platform for students and recent grads to connect with available employment opportunities. Taste Your Future partnered with FoodGrads in 2018 to support positive and rewarding education to career pathways. Together with the processor business community at Food and Beverage Ontario connections are being made between educational programs, skills development, career opportunities and people.

“We are huge supporters of the Taste Your Future and FoodGrads partnership. Our industry can only benefit by telling an authentic story of the career paths and we are connecting with the leadership of tomorrow,” said Michael Givens, President/Owner La Rocca Creative Cakes Inc.
